Activities at Tellico Lake
Tellico Lake, the best place to retire, is the place many retirees have chosen to retire to. Some live along the blue waters of the lake while many of them have retired to some of the active adult communities and towns surrounding the lake. The crime rate around Tellico Lake is considered low with the cost of living also being low. Even the real estate taxes are low compared to other retirement states.
Tellico Lake is conveniently located approximately 30 miles southwest of Knoxville. This 16,500 acre lake, with approximately 373 miles of shoreline, has the most beautiful clear waters backing up into the valleys of the Great Smoky Mountains foothills. Tellico Lake is linked by a canal to the Fort Loudoun Lake near the dam. The linking of these two great waterways allows for further recreation opportunities.
Tellico Lake offers unlimited boating opportunities from cruisers, kayaks, skiing, and fishing while enjoying miles of pristine water. The more adventurous boaters might enjoy the Great Loop that encompasses a 6,000 mile waterway in the eastern portion of the United States and Canada.
All year long Tellico Lake provides great fishing for bass (both large-mouth and small-mouth), crappy, sauger, and walleye. Several national bass fishing tournaments are hosted on Tellico Lake throughout the year for that fishing enthusiast enjoyment.
Tellico Lake offers clean water for residents to enjoy swimming, water skiing, tubing and great family fun from early May to late September.
